The Arabian Section of the 99's International Women Pilots Association is pleased to announce the foundation of the Yvonne Trueman Scholarship which plans to promote opportunities to the flying members of the Section to expand their aviation knowledge.
Yvonne who is still flying at the tender age of 79, joined the Ninety-Nines International Association in the early 1970's after being introduced by Sheila Scott, one of the first lady pilots to fly around the world. When the Arabian Section was formed in 1987, Yvonne became the Governor and expanded within the Arabian section for 15years. She has been fortunate to fly to most Continents in the world to meet other fellow 99-ers to share in the bond of flying fellowship.
Yvonne who has British, New Zealand American and Seaplane licenses is proud to hold the first Bahrain flying licence.
Her late son Captain Julian Pooley - a helicopter pilot - was killed in 1984 and Yvonne wishes to start the donation of this Foundation with $10,000 in his memory.
