"I’d have to thank my fish memory for forgetting my iTunes password. What is your dream job? The answer was a pilot!
It was a ‘question mark animated above my head’ moment, wondering why didn’t I pursue my dream?
For some reason, throughout all these years, my mind did not even attempt to achieve my dream. But all in good time right?
Graduated university with a BSc in Business Management. Worked in the family business for almost two years. But I couldn’t get aviation out of my head.
The first thing I tried to do was get a simulator experience. It was a Boeing 737 simulator and I was hooked! No words can describe the feeling I had every time I walked into the cockpit. I felt like I left the world behind.
But still I never saw how could I make this dream come true. Until, one day in the very last week of December 2014, I arrive to the office, to a different view. A colleague had cut out a piece of the newspaper and placed it on my desk (of course all the office knew my obsession). The ad said Kuwait Airways looking for student pilots. And I remember my heart pounding harder and harder as I read down the qualifications. Praying that the moment is not too good to be true!
Applied and thankfully made it through the interview, the DLR test and the DLR interview. And I remember every time I would try to convince myself that I didn’t pass, as to not get disappointed if I really didn’t. And here I am now, taking the first steps towards achieving my dream, at Ayla Aviation Academy, Aqaba.
After graduating (inshallah) I will be the second Kuwaiti female pilot and the first female Kuwaiti pilot that was sent to study under the supervision of Kuwaiti Airways.
