“During summer vacations, I used to attend Oshkosh EAA with my father. All the experimental aircraft and the air shows fueled my passion for aviation.
I moved to Florida USA and joined a flying club in Sanford Florida as one of two women members. In the 70s aviation was a male dominated field but women were starting to enter aviation.
I soloed in 1979 and passed my PPL check ride a few months later. At that time, my patient flight instructor encouraged me to continue with my IR which I did. During my time Florida, I flew to several breakfast fly-ins and weekend get aways.
Once I moved to the Middle East, flying was not an option for private pilots! Especially a woman!!! While in Bahrain I worked with Yvonne Trueman, former Arabian 99 Governor. She encouraged me to join the Arabian 99s. Currently I am the Scholarship Chairman and Membership.”
